Ji Sun Jung
Ji Sun Jung is a Ph.D. student in the Department of English, Hanyang University. She is now writing a dissertation on W. B. Yeats.

Abstract

The paper compares W. B. Yeats, who turns all that he has experiencedinto his work, including his ideas of religion, art, mythology, love, with EmilyDickinson, who leads a life isolated, destructive, impulsive, creating poems as if sheis keeping her diary. and an isolated life. Both have multiple views of life, refusingto compromise themselves facing mediocre and common conceptions of life, withvast imagination, in a society of confusion and conflicts. The common aspect ofboth poets is nobility in thoughts: following through with their speculations of theworld and universe, they have written poetry that seeks for the permanence of beingin life in an impermanent society.
