A Comparative Study of Yeats’s Two Plays: The King of the Great Clock Tower and A Full Moon in March
Abstract
Although Yeats considered A Full Moon in March a better play than The King of the Great Clock Tower, this might not be the case in terms of characterization and theatricality. Having the same Salome motif, the two plays are completely different from each other in many ways. This study compares the two versions to demonstrate that despite Yeats’s preference, The King of the Great Clock Tower is a better play for theatre performance.
예이츠의 두 희곡의 비교연구: 거대한 시계탑의 왕과 3월의 보름달
초록
비록 예이츠는 3월의 보름달을 거대한 시계탑의 왕 보다 더 좋은 극으로 여겼지만 성격묘사와 연극적인 관점에서는 맞지 않을 수도 있다. 살로메 모티 브를 똑같이 가지고 있는 이들 연극들은 여러 가지 면에서 완전히 다르다. 본 연구는 거대한 시계탑의 왕 이 ‘공연’의 측면에서는 더 나은 작품이라는 것을 보여주기 위 하여 두 버전의 희곡들을 비교한다.
